PURWAKARTA– Another new car maker is investing to build a plant to support manufacturing activities in Indonesia. PT Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) is building a new factory in Indonesia that will produce engines and transmissions. Previously, investment to build plants in Indonesia– either for manufacturing or assembly—was also made by Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Daihatsu, Suzuki, and Hino.
To build the new plant, Nissan is pouring investments of 3.4 billion yen, equivalent to IDR 437.8 billion. This new plant is sitting on the same area as the rests. In Indonesia, Nissan handles production and marketing of Nissan and Datsun car brands.
Standing on an area of 3,000 square meters, the plant is equipped with machining of engine production line. It will produce engines and transmissions locally. The total production capacity of this plant will reach 96,000 units per year. The plan plant will start operations in September 2017.
“Indonesia is one of the strategic markets for Nissan globally. This investment is an important for our company’s growth strategy,” said Mr Antonio Zara, NMI President.
“With this new plant, we will be able to provide the best products in accordance with the standard system of production, Nissan production way. We are confident this plant will produce high-quality engine and transmission, so that we can provide the best vehicle for consumer products in Indonesia,” he said. (*)
